Pet-Friendly Hotels at Zurich Airport: Dog Fees, Weight Limits and the Walk from the Terminal
Switzerland is a country of dog owners and its hotels are used to them, and the airport hotels are no exception: five of the eight on this site take dogs, at fees from nothing to CHF 45, with the park at The Circle as the walk. This guide gives each hotel’s policy as published in 2026, where to exercise a dog near the terminal, and the rules for a dog on the train and through the airport.
The hotels, policy by policy
Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle: the most generous, with a Happy Dog package that lets one dog stay free with a bed, bowls and treats, a second dog at CHF 40 a night, individual weight limit 22 kg and 35 kg combined, two pets a room; the park is at the door.
Radisson Blu Hotel Zurich Airport: pets at CHF 30 per pet per night, service animals free, with the walkway into the terminal for the dog that has to fly with you in the morning.
Dorint Airport-Hotel Zürich: dogs and cats at CHF 25 per pet per night plus a CHF 25 nightly deposit, two per room, bowls provided, the free shuttle from the airport and fields nearby.
Hilton Zurich Airport: dogs and cats up to 10 kg, two per room, CHF 45 per stay, not to be left unattended, bowls provided; the hotel shuttle is CHF 7 a person.
Mövenpick Hotel Zurich Airport: dogs accepted with a fee quoted on request; ask at booking.
Hyatt Place Zurich Airport The Circle, ibis budget Zurich Airport: pet rooms are limited and the fee set by the property; confirm by phone before booking. The Alpine Garden Capsule Hotel has shared dormitory rooms and is not suitable for pets.
Where to walk
The park behind The Circle, 80,000 sq m on the slope with paths and a viewpoint over the runway, is five minutes from the terminal and next to both Hyatts; dogs are welcome on a lead. From the Glattbrugg hotels the Glatt river path and the farmland towards Rümlang give a flat hour, and Kloten’s woods are 15 minutes on foot from the Hilton. In Switzerland dogs must be on a lead in towns and near wildlife in spring, and their owners carry bags.
Dogs on the train and in the airport
Dogs ride every Swiss train, tram and bus on a half-fare ticket (a day pass for dogs is also sold), free in a carrier if small; the train into Zurich takes 10 minutes (getting into Zurich guide). Entering Switzerland a dog needs a microchip, a valid rabies vaccination and an EU pet passport or veterinary certificate, with stricter rules for puppies and for dogs from outside Europe; the airport has an animal station for transfers and SWISS carries small animals in the cabin on most routes. For a dog that lands late or leaves early, the hotels on foot from the terminal save it a shuttle; the sleeping in the airport guide and the family-friendly guide cover the rest of the practicalities.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Zurich Airport hotels accept dogs?
The Hyatt Regency (first dog free with the Happy Dog package, second CHF 40 a night, up to 22 kg each), the Radisson Blu (CHF 30 per pet per night), the Dorint (CHF 25 per pet per night plus a CHF 25 deposit, dogs and cats), the Hilton (CHF 45 per stay, dogs and cats up to 10 kg, two per room) and the Mövenpick (dogs, fee on request). Where can I walk a dog near Zurich Airport?
The park on the hill behind The Circle, five minutes from the terminal and beside the two Hyatts, and the fields and the Glatt river paths around Glattbrugg and Rümlang for the shuttle hotels. Dogs ride Swiss trains and trams on a half-fare ticket, free if small enough for a carrier.
Can a dog travel through Zurich Airport?
Yes. Dogs enter Switzerland with an EU pet passport or veterinary certificate, microchip and rabies vaccination; SWISS and most carriers take small animals in the cabin and larger ones in the hold, with an animal lounge at the airport for transfers. Book the animal with the flight well ahead.
Do I need to tell the hotel in advance?
Yes, at booking: pet-friendly rooms are limited at every hotel, the Hyatt Regency's free package must be requested, and the deposits and fees are settled at check-in.
